About Friends of Yaquina Lighthouses

The Friends of Yaquina Lighthouses (FOYL) is a Cooperative Association partner with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Cooperating Associations, also known as “Friends Groups,” are private 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations formed by citizens to provide and support the educational and interpretive services of the parks, and to assist in the preservation and restoration of public lands and historic structures.

These organizations rely heavily on volunteer support in all areas of operation. Friends support state and federal parks by operating museums and interpretive stores and providing additional educational programs at the park. Friends help by raising funds for park projects and historical renovations and building new park facilities, they work within their communities to encourage support for public lands.

The Friends of Yaquina Lighthouses nonprofit status allows us to sell memberships, write grants, receive qualified donations, and receive donated materials. FOYL members receive an annual pass to Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area (YHONA), and also receive a discount on all merchandise sold at the YHONA Interpretive Store. FOYL is pleased to participate in the Public Lands Alliance Reciprocal Discount Program (RDP), members can enjoy discounts at over 400 different public land sites across the nation. More information on this program can be found at publiclandsalliance.org.

Friends of Yaquina Lighthouses is an extremely proud member of the Conservation Lands Foundation Friends Grassroots Network, working to protect, restore and expand the National Conservation Lands. The National Conservation Lands (of which YHONA is a part) currently encompass 32 million acres of public land, over 2,400 river miles and approximately 6,000 miles of trails throughout the West.  Learn more at conservationlands.org.
